No time for blogging when the finish line is in sight!

I haven't been blogging as I have been busy finishing up my One Monthly Goal I could see the finish line getting closer and closer and I knew if I really pushed myself I could make it to my extra goal as well.  Today I reached that extra goal and finished my quilt top ready to take into Quilty Desires to be quilted by the very talented people in there! Not only that I am another step closer to completing another UFO!
Linking up with OMG Finish Up Linky Party you should see what some of the other people have achieved this month!

Now what will I work on next?

Another Step Closer

Today I had a wonderful day sewing with some amazing friends. I really missed joining them during the school holidays. I sewed the moons onto the blocks I had started preparing yesterday and then I did the blanket stitch around some more of the squares for my crocheted fabric quilt. I am slowly getting them done. I think I will blanket stitch around all of them before I start crocheting them.
It could take a while though!

When I got home I had some time to myself as Master Eight was visiting a friend so I did the rest of the prep work on those last four blocks of Hello Moon. Then I finished stitching the last of the blocks I had previously prepared. I also figured out how I am going to set them when I put them together. If I work really hard for the next few days I might even get the top put together. Still holding out hope that I can!

School is back!

You would think I would have done much more sewing today since I had the house all to myself, but instead I cleaned the house. Ohh it is so much easier to clean when I am the only one at home!
This afternoon I went in search of the fabrics I had used to make my strip set for Hello Moon as I still haven't been able to find what I did with the ones I had made. So I cut out new strips and sewed them together. Then I traced each of the four remaining moons onto some very old vliesofix that I found whilst searching for the fabric. I had a bit of trouble peeling the paper off the back but finally I got my moons fused to the background fabrics.

I am one step closer to meeting my OMG goal. How are you going with yours?

FNSI & Scrap Happy Saturday

This week has been a busy one preparing for Master Eights' return to school so there hasn't been much happening on the sewing front this week. I was so glad for a little down time and did some hand sewing in front of the tv for FNSI. I know why I don't usually sew in front of the tv now...
I didn't make much progress !0)

I did manage to make progress on my purple blocks for ScrapHappy Saturday finally and finished my blocks for the 2014 RSC. I also managed to sort out most of my scraps into colours which was an achievement and will make it easier to locate the colours I need for the rest of the year.
Linking up with FNSI and ScrapHappy Saturday You should pop on over and see what some of the other amazing crafters have been up to.

No Sewing on the weekend!

I didn't get any sewing done this weekend as the family and I took a little break to enjoy views like this

and to eat yummy stuff like this

I was very keen to get back to work on Hello Moon when we got back. I went in search of my grey strips I had sewn together for this project. I couldn't find them anywhere. Luckily I still have the materials I made them out of it just means I will have to make a new set. While I was searching for them I got distracted by  my scrap bins as I knew I needed to find my purples to work on my Rainbow Scrap Challenge blocks too. So I pulled them out and started sorting.
I am all ready to get those purple blocks finished now!

Another Bird Flies From the Nest

It was another quiet day on the sewing front although I did manage to finish one of the birds I started yesterday.

Humming Along!

So Master Eight worked on his sewing on and off today, he started making a Hummingbird designed by Melly & Me. He has sewn all around the wings so next time he sews he will be able to put the body together. As for my progress I got the wings and beaks done for mine whilst Master Eight was having a break from sewing . So this is what we have waiting for us next time we decide to sew.
Master Eight's are the ones that still need to be turned, apparently that's my job ;0)
I also got some buttons to finish off the first Hummingbird so now I have another finish to add to the list!
Better go turn those wings!

Busy Day

Today I finished off the rest of my Meadow Mystery blocks for January. Now I have to wait until February for the next clue!

Last night Master Eight asked if he could do some sewing too tomorrow, I remind him he had a play date but he could do some on Wednesday.  He wants to have a go at making some toys after his last sewing activity was very successful, so today I cut out both a whale and a chameleon for him to try and make. He knew I was going to make a Hummingbird and mentioned he would like to try that too, so I ended up cutting out four hummingbirds as well, one for him and a few for me. Here it all is ready for tomorrow.
What's that you say? There are only three Hummingbirds there? That's cause I couldn't wait and had to start on one. All he needs now are some buttons to hold his wings on and some buttons for his eyes and he is finished! Melly & Me patterns really are so much fun to make!

Although I think I might be doing more helping than making tomorrow ;0)
Looking forward to the fun :0)

Meadow Mystery Quilt Progress

I haven't really posted much about this since I started it so I will show you what I have done so far. Back in July I showed you what fabric I had chosen. Here it is here

The first clue came out in August and I only got part of it done so I did some catching up just before Christmas.
I also got Septembers' clue done before Christmas.
I worked on November and December between Christmas and New Year but still had some trimming to do so that is where I started today.
November blocks all trimmed :0)
December blocks all finished too!
Then I got started on Januarys' clue
I still have seven of the blocks with the diagonal to finish up but that is a job for tomorrow!

Another Block Done

I managed to complete another block today.  I couldn't help but think about the movie "Flight of the Navigator" whilst I was stitching the aliens' eyes, it was one of those movies I thought was great when I was younger. Have you ever had random things from the past come into your head while you are stitching?
I now have only one of the prepared blocks left to complete before I start on the last four blocks. I am hoping that I will get it to flimsy stage by the end of the month. I probably won't get much stitching done tomorrow but if I do it will probably be January's clue to the Meadow Mystery Quilt.

Slow Progress

Today was a busy day out and about with the family so I only got a little bit done on my blocks today.
I went back and finished the block from yesterday and I am so glad I did.
It looks so much better with those last little touches I forgot yesterday.
I also finished this block off.
Any progress is better than no progress!
P.S I've just discovered the OMG  at Elm Street Quilts so I have decided to join and this will be my first project. My goal is to get the blocks all completed. If I get that done before the end of the month I will attempt to get it to the flimsy stage where it can be sent off to the quilters. Wish me luck and have you joined yet?

No Finish Today, But There Was Some Progress

Today I did pull out the Hello Moon quilt to do some work on. I thought I had finished the appliqué on this block
until I pulled out the pattern to look at the next block (below) and I realised I hadn't done the line to give the cheese a more 3D effect and the mouse whiskers! I had already started on this block by then.

As I still had some grey thread left on my needle after doing the moon I also started this block to save having to rethread my needle with that same thread again later.

So I have started on three of the four blocks I had preprepared so hopefully they won't take too long and then I will be able to start on the last four blocks. Then I will have to figure out how to set them. Any Ideas?

On A Roll

So I went looking for Hello Moon and came across the Dala Horse in the process. Since it felt so good to get a finish under my belt and there wasn't much left to do on this I decided I would finish it off too. So here is what I started with

And now this is what I have.

First completed project for the year!

Yay I finished my little project from yesterday, it feels great to have finished something so early in the year. I hope this progress keeps up I might actually use some of my stash at this rate!

This cute robot was from Anni Downs "A Boys Story" book.
He was quick and fun to make!

On another good note I checked my hard drive to see if I had saved the rest of the patterns for Hello Moon and they were there! (Doing a little happy dance!) I really loved this quilt but fell behind so now I know I will be able to finish it. Might actually pull it out next! This is where I am currently up to with it.
I have four blocks here preped to sew and four more blocks I need to make giving me a total of 12 blocks for the quilt.

Happy New Year!

I hope 2017 is an amazing year for everyone!

My 2017 has started off very well with me nearly finishing one of my UFO projects today. Pretty sure I will be marking him off the list tomorrow! Here is a photo of where he is at today.

Only his arms, legs and neck left to sew and then I can put him all together.
One project will be finished then!
Yay!
