Why does it always happen on a long weekend?

I would have had another block finished for my secret project, except I ran out of the cotton I was using :(  Now I will have to wait until Tuesday to finish it. Oh well on the bright side it has given me more time to work on my project for the blog hop tonight. Tomorrow I will start on another block for my secret project. Just three more blocks and I can put the top together. It is getting harder to take photos of my secret project without giving it away. Has anyone worked it out yet?

Another block finished!

Whoo Hoo I am finally finished the block I was working on and it did not take as long as I thought it would. It is looking good for me to get it finished for my set date I want it finished by! I love it when things work out!

I might even get started on my project for "It's for the Birds" blog hop! Yahoo it's been a productive day!

Looking hopeful

I am hoping that the block I am working on for my secret project will be more quickly finished than I thought. I am really keen to get this quilt top finished.

Whoo Hoo

I found out I was selected to participate in my first blog hop today! Now I have to decide what to make. Can't wait, the members of "sew we quilt" are very creative and inspiring and I feel honoured to be picked to participate.  Now what should I make??? The Blog Hop theme is "It's For the Birds" and has to feature birds but can be anything birds! Thanks Madame Samm for organising the Hop and also to Mary for being the cheerleader and already being very supportive for this new blog hopper!

It's for the Birds

Getting closer

Today I spent time finishing off one of my secret project blocks and then getting the next one ready. I am still not finished cutting it all out and assembling it but it will all be together tomorrow. Once I get this block finished it will be a cruise to the end. I am getting a bit anxious to put the sashing on the blocks and get it all together.

What did you do today?

Table Runner

Well I spent an interesting time sewing with my friend today and this is all I managed to put together of this table runner. It wasn't cause we were talking too much either, it was just that we were both having trouble getting the seams to match properly. Might be a work in progress or a UFO for a while now!

Hello Moon!

I made the first two blocks from the "Hello Moon" Quilt-a-long, they were nice and easy to make and I think they turned out well. I am really enjoying this quilt-a-long.

Maybe I will get some of the "Hello Sun" blocks done during the next week.

A New Start

I just couldn't help myself I have been looking at these patterns for the last few months and I just had to start them today. It's not like I don't already have a lot on the go, so what is one more project?

I can't wait to make the Hello Sun Quilt. Luckily I saved all the patterns when I found this site, as it has now been taken down (although you can now buy the pattern from April's etsy shop). Hello Moon is the 2013 quilt along.  There are only a couple of these blocks available so far, but I can't wait to see the rest of them. I didn't have much time for crafting today so I only managed to get the strips sewn together. That means tomorrow I can start a couple of the blocks! Yay!

W.I.P. Wednesday

Today I worked on my secret project again. So it is another cryptic photo. I can't wait until it is finished and delivered so I can post a photo of it all. I am working hard on this project as I want to give the ladies at Marci's Quilting Service plenty of time to quilt it. Hopefully it won't be too long until this W.I.P.  is finished

There is a new block available for the "Hello Moon" quilt along and I am very seriously considering starting it too, it is very cute! I wish I could figure out how to add the button for it to my blog the only ones I have added have had the written code to add.

Check out my other posts to see what else I have been up to this week.

Have fun stitching!

Finished

Ahh it feels good to finish something that has been hanging around for so long.  One of those UFO's is now finished.

I just thought I would share a little tip with you, when working on mini kits like this one it helps me to keep the colours in order if I sew them through the photocopied chart near the numbers and symbols that correspond to them. The threads are easy enough to separate when they are short without having to take them in and out and it keeps them separated and easy to find.

Here is the finished item....

I was looking for a needle threader for my crafty friend when I found these...

These belonged to my Nanna, and they are very special to me as she is no longer around. They will be very useful when I get around to finishing another UFO on my list. The patchwork teddy will feature a variety of embroidery stitches so these will be a great help. While I work on the stitches I will be able to remember many happy times with my Nan too :0)

Progress on a UFO

Today I worked on one of my UFO's hopefully it will not take too much longer to finish, although it is amazing just how many hours of work can go into something this small!

Six Months of Softies

I signed up for this yesterday and couldn't wait for the pattern for the first one to arrive, so I was very excited to find it in my inbox. I got straight to it and found it very easy to make and the instructions were very clear with bonus video tutorials to help if you were having difficulties. I am so glad I signed up for this sew along. Thanks Wendi for the great patterns and clear instructions!

To anyone thinking of signing up I say DO IT I'm sure you won't regret it making these two was so much fun!

Another block finished

I finished the block I was working on for my secret project today. Six more to go then I can start putting it together! I had a lovely morning at Marci's Quilting Service sewing and chatting. I got most of the block done while I was there and came home with a new project to work on too.

Just signed up for the Six Months of Softies

I can't wait. I absolutely love the Funky Friends Factory patterns by Pauline McArthur they are just wonderful, and her after sales service is great too, so if she is involved I bet the other five designers will be wonderful too!

Getting there

More work on my secret project today. I'm nearly to the point where I can see the end of the project in sight, which will help keep me  motivated!

Fun Froggie

Today I had fun creating a wonderful little frog from this book from Melly and Me

He was really easy to make and I have a special recipient in mind for it but I have to make a few more things before I can hand it over.

I think I may have put his face area on the wrong way, but at the time I was sure I had it the right way round ohh well! He is a long faced frog now! I also think I would have found it easier to put the eyes on before stuffing him but then they might have ended up in the wrong position too!

I'll have shorts this colour please!

Now he is all ready to hit the beach!

I loved how easy this pattern was to follow and by photocopying the pages I could tick off each step as I had done it (ensuring I didn't get lost if I was interrupted, which happens quite frequently around here!) with out ruining the lovely book! I love the pictures and hints and tips in the book, it just made making the frog so simple.

A new block started

Today is W.I.P. Wednesday so I had to get to work on another block for my secret project. I have to say I am very happy with this one and can't wait to get it finished! I am hoping that the recipient will really love it when it is finished!

I have also been inspired by some of the blogs I have been reading so I am going to dig out my UFO's tomorrow and add a list of them to work on during the rest of the year. Hopefully making this list will keep me working on them. (I might add a list of NEWfo's too, of all those things I want to do!)

Another block finished!

Today I was looking forward to spending alot of time sewing, unfortunately that didn't happen. :(

I was happy though, to get another block finished for my secret project. I'm on the downhill run now, but I really need to concentrate on getting it done sooner rather than later. So it looks like there will be a few more of these cryptic photos just showing part of the blocks.

Finishing Touches

Today's crafting was putting some of the finishing touches on a quilt that has been unfinished for way too long. I had it quilted by the wonderful ladies at Marci's Quilting Service. I need to get some beads that are the right size to completely finish it off though.

The Quilt in progress

Added hair to the angel

Added nose and mouth today need to get some beads for the eyes.

Some of the quilting detail

More of the quilting detail, it really goes well with the theme of the quilt. Marci and Judy do a wonderful job on the quilts.

This quilt was made many, many years ago when I was attending a quilting group in my hometown. It was part of a round robin we did. We handed some of our fabric along with a block and each person added a little of their own touch to it by making a block using the fabric, some added some of their own  fabrics too which really made it interesting.

Ok now a challenge for my quilting/crafty friends! Pull out one of those projects that has been sitting unfinished for way too long and do some work on it. Let's see what we can get done before the end of the month.

More Progress

I have started work on a new block for my secret project.

It kind of helped me get over the frustration of yesterday. I was going to work on a bag which I thought was a fair size, but when I got the pattern I discovered it was much smaller than I expected. I was just going to make it deeper until I realised some of the length of it was used up to create the width so now I will have to adjust all the measurements to get it to the size I want it.

Progress Made

I finally finished the block I was working on for my secret project.

This is what the frog looks like now!

Eight more appliqués to do then I can put the top together!

I have still been working on getting those bags of fabric sorted out and onto the shelves. I didn't realise just how much was in those bags!

Busy Few Days

I haven't posted for a few days but I have still been busy. Saturday and Sunday was spent putting the binding on a quilt for a friend. I am not posting a picture as it was not a quilt I made.  Monday and Tuesday was spent turning this

into this

I still have more fabric to fold and put on the shelves but it is much neater.
