Finally finished

I have been working on this quilt for a while and all that was left to do on it was to put the binding on. I spent most of the day stitching it on, but at last it is finished. Tomorrow I will be able to get a hanger for it and drop it off to it's new owner. I hope they love it as much as I do.

It was a pattern by Nancy Halvorson from her Curiosities & Mischief book which I adjusted a little to suit the purpose of hanging in a preschool classroom.

Now I am off to sew on some duck wings, beaks and eyes to finish off some more little ducks.

September OPAM

I'm a bit late posting this (but not as late as last month!!! LOL)

Here is what I finished in September,

The "Sewing Makes Me Happy Thread Keeper" by Gail Pan

It is on display at the shop now!

Mother Duck from Melly and Me's "Five Little Ducks" Pattern

I still have five little ducks to make, They are also going on display at the shop for a while!

Then I finally finished the Unicorn a friend asked me to make from a "Funky Friends Factory" Pattern

And last but not least I finished the "Barn Owl Doll" by Paloma Rocha  which was also for my friend. They wanted it in pink and purple so I had fun trying out colour combinations with this one!

Then I had fun taking photos of the doll and the Unicorn together

I have been working on other stuff as well but none of them have reached the finished stage.

August OPAM

Oops just realised I hadn't done a post for August.

I finished the Croc which I posted about in my last entry

I also finished this quilt by finally putting the binding on it!

My sewing friends encouraged me to do some hexagons (Even though I despise them!!!) so I also finished this little project
I am leaving my mug rug at my favourite craft shop in the classroom for when we are sewing. I might finish the other one one day....

I also finished the Summer Fun BOM finally (But I forgot to take a photo before it went on display at the shop so I will have to post it later)

A little gift

I made this little fellow to help out at school. I hope the kids like him!

It was another of the wonderful Funky Friends Factory Patterns  I love being able to brighten someone else's day by making them something!

Slow Stitching Sunday, 27 July 2014

I spent my stitching time today finishing off this little set.

It is a Gail Pan design. It was so much fun to make. I have a few more of her patterns to add to this set. I can't wait to get them stitched up to add to this collection.

BOM's Away and Tuesday Stitching

I haven't worked on my Apples of Gold BOM in ages so I decided to get it out and do a little last night. I made a little progress on it.

Maybe if I continue to work on it a little each week it will get finished soon.

Today I had a lovely day stitching with a wonderful friend. I always feel refreshed and uplifted after a day stitching with her I think it's because we have such a wonderful time and lots of laughs!
This is what I worked on today.

Some Slow Stitching Progress

I finally sat down and worked on my cross stitch for a while last night. It wasn't a great deal of progress but every little bit helps get it closer to finished!

Now I'm off to work on a BOM that hasn't been touched for quite a while!

Just finished

This has been waiting to be made for a while. I was given the Studio Mio Elegant Chic Purse pattern at the same time I made the little purse out of the same fabric. It was another quick and easy project. The instructions were very clear and easy to follow.

More Updates

Here is more of what I have been up to lately

The doll I made for a friend

This pattern was called Elegant Expressions I changed the colours it came up nicely.

This is a quilt I made for the day care centre my youngest went to.
I still need to bind it and put a sleeve on it so that it can be hung up.

What have I been up to lately?

Thought I should give you an update since it has been a while. Here are some of the things I have been working on
Diggles the dragon ( I fell in love with him the minute I saw him at the Funky Friends Factory website and I knew I would have to make one)

A Jelly Roll bag

Moo Moo (aka Daisy) by Melly and Me

Dilby Duck another Funky Friends Factory Pattern I couldn't resist, and a mini quilt I designed myself after being inspired by a key cover my friend had given me as a gift.

Thought of the Month by hugs' n Kisses

A close up of the detail

A little quilt using Who comes to Zinnia's Garden fabric, it still needs to be quilted and I also have a table runner to make from the same range of fabric yet.

I will add some more tomorrow

It is another of those slow stitching projects!

You should see some of the progress being made over there!

Wow has it really been that long?

I knew it had been a long time since I posted but I didn't realise just how long!!! There has been a lot happening around here but not much sewing!

Today I got back into it with some Slow Stitching.
I started with this...

and finished with this...

A finish

I whipped up this little coin purse overnight, it was very quick and simple to make. (unless you put the pleats in backwards like I did!) Which was the only reason I had to finish it off this morning.

Komodo Dragon

I forgot to post about this little fellow. A friends son had asked the girls in at the shop if they could make him a dragon. Not the type with wings though. Eventually we discovered it was a Komodo Dragon he was talking about. I looked and looked for a pattern but could not find one. Then I came across this little cutie at Funky Friends Factory

I thought with a little modification it might just work. When I found out his birthday was coming up in just a few days I bought the pattern and set to work. It turned out I didn't need to do too much to modify the pattern because of the way Pauline had constructed Igor. All I had to do was leave out the beard and wallah I had a Komodo Dragon. What do you think?

I was a day late with the gift but our friend was very happy with his gift!

Two Finished Tops

Yesterday I finished the quilt top for my son. I must say by the time it was finished I was glad to see it finished. It was huge!!!

This photo only shows half of the quilt top. The main thing is he is happy with how it turned out. Now I just have to get it quilted.

The second one I finished today was the accuquilt sampler I was making for Marci's Shop. It was nice and quick and we learnt some important lessons about using the accuquilt by making this quilt top.

This one was much easier to handle!

WIP Wednesday

I have made a good start on my calendar quilt, actually it is not the one I had planned to work on but my son came out and asked if I would make him one of the quilts that was featured on this months calendar. I had planned to make one for a friend using this pattern but I was so excited that my son asked me to make one for him I have started his first. This is going to be a fairly quick and easy quilt so I am still hoping to get one made for my friend in different colours.

I have the first block made and the rest is cut ready to sew.

BOM's Away

I love it when your vision starts to become real. When I saw the pattern to Apples of Gold, the 2013 free BOM by Val Laird,  I just knew my Aunt would love it. The following day I walked into Marci's and found the perfect fabric to make it. Now I am putting it together I am grateful that I saw how perfectly the two things would go together. I have only made two blocks so far but I am loving how it is looking. I hope my Aunt will love it too when she gets it.

January Goal Progress Report

The Bargello I was working on in January was finished and hung up at Marci's I have only just managed to get a photo of it completed.

I love the way it was quilted.

I also finished the calendar quilt top I was working on but I forgot to take a photo of it before I put it in to be quilted .

Chester was finished.

I made progress on my Advent calendar cross stitch and ended the month with this much done

I started the first part of my Sedona Star quilt, this is going to be a long term project.

It took 5 days of February but I also managed to finish the Summer Fun BOM top (I was really excited to get it finished and took it into Marci's so it could be quilted for display in the shop and guess what? I forgot to take a photo of it. I really need to get a new bag so I have my camera with me all the time)

I also managed to make some blocks that weren't on my list for January for the RSC Sampler

Now onto February's goals! ... :0)
